Waiting

When we visit Weymouth we usually take the park and ride bus into the town as it is one of the worst towns to drive into and park in (OK, Oxford is possibly worse).    Possibly not so bad at this time of year, but certainly in summer there can be long queues for the few parking spaces.

I think this was the next stop along from where the park and ride bus goes from.

Weymouth by Holga

Now I have got Vuescan and my Epson 4490 set up OK on Ubuntu 13.10 I’m hoping to get some of my old Holga shots scanned.

As I used the Holga mainly from June 2008 up until June 2010 I have ended up with a LOT of 120 negatives.

I’m working on a “lucky dip” way of choosing what to scan otherwise I’d not easily decide which negatives to scan as there are so many.

This is a track from a ride on Weymouth Beach

Now for a pedalo ride boat – looks like I need to work on keeping my horizons straight!

Just been checking the wording on the negatives which shows film type and – “AADCAG” FUJI  400 – my guess is that we are looking at PRO400H colour negative film but i could be wrong

Weymouth

Still using the D3100 for this trip to Weymouth, hoping to get the Ricoh GR soon, but it has not yet been released for general sale, so still a couple of weeks I expect, possibly longer.

The weather was a bit dull, but luckily not raining.

I have done some experimenting with presets in Rawtherapee, this time with the “netural” setting which I have customised with +0.6 exposure compensation and +25 contrast, and “sunny” white balance (5300K)

Tried out Prezzo which overlooks the river – they do a good lasagne dish

Just upgraded my wordpress theme to the latest version of “Sandbox” to v1.6.2

I have noticed that it has changed the appearance of captions in photos which have captions.

I have customised the background colour from white to 50% grey (#808080) – I find reading text & viewing photos on white more tiring on the eyes so 50% grey seems ideal, especially when viewing photos as well as text.

The Sandbox theme seems to be the least “fussy” theme as a lot of the themes are just quite hideous, but Sandbox is really minimal…..”less is more”
